Due to heavy rains the night of the film’s debut during the Mineiro launch of “To Belém & Back,” a re-debut is now scheduled in Tiradentes’s Cultural Center for Friday, Jan. 8th, at 7:30pm.
The film, in many ways a simple love letter to the interior of Brazil, brings a different sensibility to the roadsides, riversides, and interior seasides that are generally avoided by tourists, journalists, and artists alike. Leave it to American author Ben Batchelder, who grew up in the land of road mythology, to bring a fresh eye to this neglected part of Brazil’s heritage.
