brazilian launch of “my world book 2″ & photo exhibit

We are pleased to announce the return of book and other cultural events after the world’s two year flirtation with tyranny.

On Saturday, June 18th, UFMG (Federal University of Minas Gerais) is hosting both a photography show opening, titled “Serra de São José,” the national launch of My World Book 2, and the Mineiro launch of My World Book 1 (previously launched in São Paulo) in Tiradentes, MG.

The three hour opening on Saturday will include the continuous projection of My World Book 2‘s launch video, a cocktail reception catered by Maria Luiza Bonaventura, and a trailblazing exhibit of 26 11×14 black & white images from the top of the extraordinary Serra de São José range, which extends for 10 kilometers and reaches just over 1,400 meters or nearly 4,700 feet in height. The images were captured over numerous 4 hour hikes with a Nikon FM, developed and then enlarged in the author’s small backyard studio without any digital manipulation.

The author is unaware of any other art exhibit in the past 37 years which focuses on the lush and intimate beauty of this famous range, among the three most bio-diverse in Brazil.

While the My World Book launches will occur on the evening of the opening, the exhibit will be open to viewing through July 15th, Monday through Fridays.
